Warhammer 40k 3rd edition Battle Scribe list builder

The 3rd edition....

I started my wargaming journey with the 2nd edition of warhammer 40k and Necromunda. But I also had some good memories of the 3rd edition.

For some people the 3rd ed is the worst: it's too simple, unbalanced and very poor in fluff.

For others, it's one of the coolest, most fun and most simple to dive into whitout being intimidated with the huuuuuge 40k fluff.

So you want to build an army for 3rd ed, but are bored to flip thru the codexes and "chapter approved" articles from white dwarf?
Here is an incredible project to get back to 1999 with modern tools!

Battlescribe

Battlescribe is an app that help you to build army lists from many gaming system. It's all community driven so the data you will be using are made by the community.

In our case, Kris from the wahrammer 40,000 3rd Edition facebook group put together the datas for us. Thanks Kris!

How to install the datas on Battlescribe?

This tutorial is made for the desktop PC version of Battlescribe, I'm not sure how similar this will be to the other versions.

So I'm assuming you have downloaded and installed Battlescribe on your computer.

Get the datas

Download this file:

https://github.com/ksnyder1986/Warhammer-40k-3rd-Edition/releases/latest/download/Warhammer-40k-3rd-Edition.latest.bsi

This is a Work In Progress project. I won't go too much into details, but this link provide always the lastest version of the file, so later on, you only have to download this file again and update it on Battlescibe the same way you installed it first.

Install the datas

Launch the Roster Editor

If its the first time you launch the editor it will ask to open the next screen for you, if not, click this icon to manage your datas

Click on NO

Click on the import data , then import data from file

Select the downoaded datas

Click on Done

If you did well, you should have a confirmation, if not start again

You are now ready to create a list! Click on the top left icon

1) Select the data set. 2)Name your army 3)add a note if you need to and specify the points limit if you wan to 4)Click and add force and select the list you want to refere to, then click OK. 5)Click OK

And Voilà! You can now play around with the program to build your list!

I won't go into details on how to use Battlescribe, but don't be scared it's very straightforward.

I Found a bug

Bummer! Krist ask me to redirect you to this page if you found a bug, so he will update the datas accordingly! Awsome right?

Great, have fun!
